Michael Farris is a constitutional appellate litigator and long-standing leader of Christian organizations. He has written 15 books, numerous law review articles, and countless articles in the popular press.
Mike was the founding president of the Home School Legal Defense Association and of Patrick Henry College. He led HSLDA until 2017 and remains chairman of its board of directors.
In 2017, Mike became the President, CEO, and General Counsel of Alliance Defending Freedom, the world’s largest Christian legal organization. During Mike’s six years of leadership, ADF served as counsel in nine cases in the United States Supreme Court, winning eight victories, including NIFLA v. Becerra—where Mike personally argued before the court and gained a victory for California’s prolife pregnancy centers—and Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, the case that reversed Roe v. Wade.
Mike retired as CEO of ADF in October 2022 and served for an additional year in an advisory capacity. He now serves as the General Counsel of the National Religious Broadcasters, Senior Advisor with Convention of States, and an elder of Cornerstone Chapel in Leesburg, Virginia.
Mike and his wife, Vickie, have 10 children and many grandchildren.
