Gavin Cox

Gavin Cox worked for a decade in the international seismic and survey industries, which included exploration for oil and gas in more than a dozen countries. He graduated from the Camborne School of Mines in 1991 in minerals engineering. In 1999, Gavin studied for an honour’s degree in theology from London Bible College. In 2013, Gavin graduated from Exeter University with a master’s degree in biblical studies. In 2015, Gavin graduated from Birmingham University with a master’s degree in Egyptology.

It was during his theology training that Gavin was confronted with evolutionary thinking. This became his “wake-up call” to defending Genesis and the gospel from destructive humanistic ideas. Since then, Gavin became increasingly involved in giving presentations to churches on the issues of creation vs. evolution. This led to Gavin working full-time for more than five years in creation apologetics, speaking on creation topics across the UK and Europe. As of June 2025, Gavin works for Answers in Genesis–UK as a speaker and writer.

Gavin’s passion is to see Christians equipped to defend the gospel with faith-inspiring truth. Gavin’s specific specialism is in Egyptology, especially with connections to creation and the flood in Genesis.
