Micah Willis was born Deaf and raised in a hearing family. Being really close, they communicated through basic home signs but mostly verbally spoke with each other. Micah grew up going to a hearing church. Without having access to a morning service in his language, he had to depend on lip reading, which made it hard to understand the gospel. Every Sunday, he would just pretend that he could understand the speaking, only sometimes catching some words. Most of the time, he would ask his father what the message was about, and he would explain it to him. Until the age of 17, Micah went to a Deaf Youth Camp and accepted Jesus into his heart through the heart of American Sign Language.
Micah is passionate about reaching, discipling, training, and equipping the next generation of the Deaf to see them become future leaders for the good news of Jesus. He also volunteers with the Deaf Millennial Project as a writer and content developer to provide content in American Sign Language for the Deaf. Micah loves to play video games, watch movies, and listen to music. He travels around the US attending Deaf conferences, Deaf men’s retreats, and Deaf youth camps as a worship leader. He loves leading the Deaf in worship and seeing them worship Jesus! His favorite Bible verse is Psalm 46:10, “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in the earth!”
Answers in Genesis is an apologetics ministry, dedicated to helping Christians defend their faith and proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ.
