J. T. Gorham

Missionary to the Deaf J. T. Gorham began losing his hearing as a freshman at Pensacola Christian College. Growing up in a Christian home and as a pastor’s kid, J. T. desired to serve the Lord but was unsure how God could use him. As he began learning sign language and serving as a counselor at the Bill Rice Ranch, he began sharing the gospel of salvation in sign language, and many Deaf kids were saved! Since that time, J. T. has joined as a Missionary to the Deaf with Silent Word Ministries and now travels with a Deaf team, preaching, teaching, discipling, training, and seeing many Deaf saved! He has served all over the US as well as in Peru, El Salvador, and Israel, working with the Deaf!

J. T. has a passionate zeal, explosive energy, and intense burden for sharing the gospel with the Deaf, the largest unreached people group in the world!

Romans 10:14 says, “How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?”

“Deaf people need to ‘hear’ the gospel in their language! They can’t hear with their ears, but with their eyes and their hearts, they can understand the message of the love and grace found in God’s Word. It thrills my heart to share with Deaf how they can have a relationship with Jesus Christ! It is essential that Deaf can understand that because of their sin, they are separated from God and heaven, but because of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, God’s Son, on the cross and his resurrection, they can believe in Jesus Christ, trusting him to forgive their sins. It is by grace through faith that we can receive God’s gift of eternal life in heaven!”
