A Trial to Watch

The media buzz surrounding a revival of the anti-Christian play Inherit the Wind, now opening in New York after playing in Chicago late last year, is newsworthy enough. But there is something bigger to consider as the creation-evolution controversy rages: many public schools continue to perform this dreadful play.

Inherit the Wind describes events that are often precisely opposite of what happened at the 1925 Scopes trial. Unfortunately, this play and its equally inaccurate 1960 film offshoot continue to fuel the evolutionary and anti-Christian indoctrination of young people. Evolution is now the only explanation of origins that is allowed to be taught in most public school science classrooms.

To see samples of the many distortions and inaccuracies in the stage play and Hollywood movie Inherit the Wind, view the free online version of Dr. David Menton’s video Inherently Wind: A Hollywood History of the Scopes Trial.
