One of the few good things to come out of the unbiblical movie Noah last spring was that more people seem to have read the Genesis account of the global Flood. According to the website Biblegateway.com, during the movie’s opening weekend the site saw more than three times the web traffic to its many Bible translations of the Flood account in Genesis 6–9. Likewise, the YouVersion Bible app reported the largest number of people they’ve ever recorded exploring the passage—almost 390,000—who accessed the Flood account that same weekend.
Christians can rejoice that more people are reading Genesis’s historical account of the Flood and seeing the true character of the Creator, who shows mercy, even as He metes out judgment. Perhaps some will realize their own need for mercy and turn to Him for salvation.
