Bearing Out Creation

DNA tests have confirmed that a grizzly bear father and polar bear mother have produced what some people are calling a “pizzly.”

Thought to be the first documented incident in the wild, this bear (found in Canada) features the characteristics of each parent.

Now, grizzly and polar bears (as well as other bear species) have been interbred in zoos and have produced fertile offspring. Such interbreeding confirms the close relationship of the bear kind. The pizzly bear contains the genetic makeup of both of its parents, but it has not in any way evolved into another creature.

This interbreeding should not be a surprise to Christians since God did tell the animal kinds to reproduce after their own kind (Genesis 1:24). The pizzly bear is still a bear—a truth that confirms what God clearly teaches in the Scriptures.
