The works of Charles Spurgeon have inspired millions of Christians around the world for over a hundred years. His wisdom and insight into God’s Word and world have helped others discover the richness of Scripture. Answers in Genesis is pleased to present the text of a large collection of sermons from this 19th century “Prince of Preachers.”
I want to teach two lessons tonight; the first will be a most necessary one for the unconverted, the second will be more suitable for believers in the Lord Jesus Christ.
David was eminently a type of our Lord Jesus Christ, who, in the days when he lived here among men, was despised and rejected by men.
I intend only to speak about Judah so far as he is a type of Christ.
We, who are many, are one loaf, one body: for we all partake of the one loaf.” The word “loaf” helps to bring out more clearly the idea of unity intended to be illustrated by the apostle.
It would seem too great a thing for the Creator ever to rest in his creature, yet it is true that this is the place where he finds his rest.

Perhaps, in the special senses in which Ezekiel uses this expression, we shall not expect to feel “the hand of the Lord” on us.
When the Lord seals up a man’s hand, he is unable to perform his labour. The Lord has an object in this, namely, “so that all men may know his work.”
In this verse and the following one we have a very brief yet very full description of what every minister of the gospel ought to preach.
The Word of God tells us that in the midst of the great mass of men there are to be found a special people—a people who were chosen by God out of the common race.
We may truly say concerning our Father in heaven that his plans, his arrangements, his actions, his gifts are very emphatically for the children.
The believer is in two places, and he lives two lives. In the text there are two places spoken of, “in me,” and “in the world.”
No doctrine in the whole Word of God has more aroused the hatred of mankind than the truth of the absolute sovereignty of God.
In the discussion between Job and his three friends, Elihu was present, but though by far the wisest man he remained quiet.
Our great High Priest is represented here as standing at the golden altar which is before the throne of God.
It seems that, around Jerusalem of old, in the time of her splendour, there was a broad wall, which was her defence and her glory.
I believe that we have in this verse a prayer of the Lord Jesus Christ.
It does not much matter what becomes of us, the common soldiers, as long as our great captain is to the front.
An old divine used to study a little book, but there was not a single word in it.
The blind man described in this narrative is a picture of what I earnestly desire that every hearer and reader of my sermons may become.

God intends to put us first. He puts his saints beyond all others as his special treasure.
These sermons from Charles Spurgeon are a series that is for reference and not necessarily a position of Answers in Genesis. Spurgeon did not entirely agree with six days of creation and dives into subjects that are beyond the AiG focus (e.g., Calvinism vs. Arminianism, modes of baptism, and so on).
