Creation Museum: Overview

The Creation Museum is an outpouring of the Answers in Genesis ministry, whose mission is to help Christians defend their faith and proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ. In visiting the state-of-the-art Creation Museum, guests will experience history the way God revealed it through the Bible.

The Creation Museum exists to educate people on biblical history and the importance of holding Scripture as the ultimate authority over all of life, starting with Genesis 1:1. Many of the exhibits contrast biblical authority with the claims of mankind and the secular worldview and highlights the divide between relying on man’s word and relying on the Word of God. The exhibits expose the underlying assumptions that lead to a faulty view of the world and all that is in it to challenge and encourage everyone to view the world through the proper lens, the Word of God.

Points of Interest

This is not your average museum. Over 140 exhibits bring the Bible to life and demonstrate how it is still just as relevant for life today as when it was first written. Throughout the museum, guests will experience history the way God revealed it and engage with the big questions of today in a meaningful way. Every guest will walk away with a better understanding of how the Bible speaks to all of life and how man-made ideas like evolution and the big bang are based on a false premise. Animatronic dinosaurs, talking heroes of the faith, and other interactive areas make it an engaging experience for guests of all ages.

There is also so much more to see and do beyond the walls of the museum. Our stunning gardens, Creation Zoo, playground, and more provide ample opportunity to enjoy the outdoors and learn more about God’s amazing creation.

Exhibits

Throughout our 140+ exhibits, we present the truth of the Word of God and answer life’s big questions in light of it. We look at things the secular culture, and sometimes even Christians, take for granted or misunderstand (e.g., dragon and flood legends) and explore how these things have an explanation that aligns with the truth found in the Bible.

The message that Genesis sets the foundation for a Christian’s understanding of the world and major doctrine is clear throughout the museum, as we seek to help guests understand that there is no higher or more reliable source for truth than the Creator of the universe and the revelation he has given mankind through his Word, the Bible. This biblical worldview is crucial for a proper understanding of the world and can only be revealed by the Creator God.

Here’s a look at some of our exhibits:

Starting Points

When it comes to the age of the earth or where life came from, we all have the same evidence before us. How then can we arrive at such differing conclusions? It all comes down to our starting points, and that’s the theme of our first exhibit as we examine the conflicting presuppositions that form the foundation for every person’s view of the world.

In this exhibit, we expose the problems with evolution and show how the missing links are still missing while examining the evidence. We look at big questions through both a naturalistic-evolutionist worldview and a biblical-creationist worldview and examine how observational and historical sciences differ and what questions these two different types of science can and cannot answer.

Garden Walk

Take a walk through the garden of Eden and discover the paradise that Adam and Eve enjoyed before the fall. In this exhibit, the natural conclusions of the six days of creation are presented along with answers to common questions such as, “Were there dinosaurs in the garden and what did they eat?” This exhibit also highlights what went wrong in the garden and begins the conversation of the consequences that mankind has endured since then.

This area starts the journey through the 7 C’s of History, which answers some of life’s big questions like, “How could a good God allow suffering and death?” Through the 7 C’s of History, we look at Creation, Corruption, Catastrophe, Confusion, Christ, Cross, and Consummation to dig deeper into the big events that have affected our world while also looking forward to the redemption that is ahead for Christians. We also warn of the judgment to come for those who have not placed their faith in Christ and encourage all to repent and be saved.

Allosaurus Skeleton

We have a world-class Allosaurus that is believed to be one of the best-preserved Allosaurus skulls ever discovered. This skeleton has one of the most complete skulls in the world, and the body was found almost 56% complete with most of the bones in their correct anatomical position. This special dinosaur named Ebenezer is a rare discovery and a remarkable addition to the dinosaur exhibits.

Throughout our dinosaur exhibits, a biblical perspective of dinosaurs is presented that challenges the misconceptions people have and challenges outright lies they are taught about dinosaurs. Guests will learn about when dinosaurs roamed the earth and how those who reject biblical authority have misused dinosaurs to be their poster child for evolution.

Fearfully & Wonderfully Made

The Fearfully & Wonderful Made exhibit is a crowd favorite. This exhibit examines the miracle of life through a biblical lens, showing that every single human being is made in the image of God, is a unique creation, and is precious and worth protecting—regardless of whether that life is inside the womb or not. By examining the science behind conception and man’s fallen and oftentimes low view of life, guests are presented with the scientific and biblical information to show that life begins at the moment of fertilization.

This exhibit refutes the idea that abortion is what our secular culture claims it to be—simply “reproductive freedom” that every woman has a right to—and exposes it for the wickedness it is. By presenting the truth based on the authoritative Word of God, this exhibit challenges the idea that humans are just animals and shares the truth that we are set apart and are uniquely made to reflect the image of God. For women who have had an abortion, this exhibit can bring up feelings of grief and shame, sof we also share the biblical message of hope and forgiveness that can be found in Christ.

Special Effects Theater

This state-of-the-art 4D theater features technology that is on par with the biggest names in the theme park industry. To enhance the shows, “active 3D glasses” that employ infrared technology are used, and closed-captioned glasses are available for guests who are Deaf or hard of hearing. Comfortable seats rumble, shake, and deliver other surprises during 4D shows, and a top-of-the-line projector delivers amazing images on the massive screen. All shows in this theater are included with admission.

Stargazer Planetarium

Enjoy a simulated night sky as you relax and recline in special seats that allow you to enjoy this theater and travel throughout the vast universe. Laser projectors cast different constellations onto a 30-meter-diameter tilted dome as a narrated show presents scientists and astronomers that explain how the universe declares the glory of God and confirms a young-earth creation. These shows do sell out, so it is recommended to purchase your tickets upon arrival.

Legacy Hall

The Creation Museum wants to leave a godly legacy for the coming generations, and as part of that legacy, we offer a variety of daily presentations, conferences, and other events in our Legacy Hall. This large auditorium can seat approximately 900 guests and is located within the museum, making it a convenient space to offer programs that educate and equip grandparents, parents, and children to view the world the way God does and trust his Word as the ultimate authority for all of life.

Conservatory

The Plants of the Bible Conservatory is a unique complex of greenhouses that opened in November 2024. Comprised of four separate structures, each greenhouse features its own climate and unique assortment of plants. The four climates represented are tropical, subtropical, Mediterranean, and arid, and each climate features specific plants mentioned in the Bible, as well as seasonal plants to create a unique experience in each greenhouse. The self-guided tour through this conservatory complex shares the gospel message and includes a plant species that may have been used to create the crown of thorns worn by Jesus during his crucifixion.

Creation Zoo

Our zoo features unique animals from around the world and provides a biblical perspective as it encourages godly environmental stewardship and proper regard for animals.

The zoo also offers Keeper Chats and Animal Encounters, where guests can watch training sessions, observe playtimes, and meet our animal ambassadors. This is a great opportunity to learn more about some of the animals we care for at the Creation Museum and to get your questions answered. Keeper Chats and Animal Encounters are included with the cost of admission and daily schedules provide more information on specific programs available on any particular day.

Botanical Gardens and Zip Lines

A mile of walking trails takes guests through our stunning botanical gardens. More than 10 gardens feature unique areas filled with a carefully curated assortment of plants and flowers. Throughout the gardens, the picturesque setting is also dotted with unique bridges, waterfalls, and fountains.

These beautiful gardens showcase a huge and incredible variety of plant life. From native species and plants that change on a seasonal basis, bamboo forests, and a unique assortment of maples to carnivorous plants and stunning lotus flowers, these gardens feature an amazing collection of plants that all ages enjoy. The gardens also feature unique bridges, waterfalls, and fountains that complement the landscape and enhance this beautiful and calming place that surrounds a three-acre lake teeming with life, lily pads, and lotus flowers.

Guests can also take in the sprawling gardens from the air, with a zip line adventure through Screaming Raptor Zip Lines. Over two and a half miles of zip lines and sky bridges provide a unique vantage point and an adrenaline rush that includes soaring over the lake. For guests who are looking for more than a calming walk through the gardens, this is a great way to enhance your visit.

• Special programs, such as Christmas at the Creation Museum, Día Latino, Deaf Day take place during the year.
• Visit the Ark Encounter in Williamstown, Kentucky, 40 interstate miles away. Creation Museum and Ark Encounter combo tickets are available.
• Check for special promotions and free days when purchasing tickets. Groups of more than 15 receive discounted rates and assistance with accommodations if desired. You can purchase tickets online or call (800) 721-2298.
• We recommend zip line times be reserved online or by calling (859) 586-3568 ahead of time.
• Don’t miss the planetarium shows. It’s best to reserve your seat as soon as you arrive because they frequently sell out.
• Don’t worry if you miss some of the 50 videos that enhance the displays throughout the museum. They’re available for purchase in the bookstore, along with many other teaching resources and souvenir items.
