As the 200th anniversary of Darwin’s birth approaches (February 12, 2009), various groups, such as the National Center for Science Education led by a known atheist, are encouraging churches to join the Darwin Day celebrations.* Various creation groups, in contrast, are promoting other projects to counter this misinformation in churches (see “Celebrate Creation” on page 14 for ideas at your church).
For example, the parent ministry of this magazine, Answers in Genesis, will hold “Answers for Darwin” conferences.** Held at two of America’s largest churches, Thomas Road Baptist Church in Virginia and Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa in California, these conferences are already being criticized by evolutionists as something akin to party-crashing.
