Celebrating the One-Year Anniversary of Answers News

Today marks the one-year anniversary of Answers News, our twice-weekly Facebook Live news program. This popular program usually features Dr. Georgia Purdom, Bodie Hodge, and me, looking at science and culture items from a biblical worldview perspective—something you certainly won’t get by turning on a TV news channel!

When we started last year, we were recording live from a very small studio—it was hard to fit all three of us at the table! We also aired from 2:30–3:00 p.m. and that time slot has since changed to 2:00–2:30 p.m. Since then, we’ve moved to a beautiful set on the stage of Legacy Hall in the Creation Museum. That means the program is now conducted before a live studio audience consisting of people who visit the museum from all over the world.

Here is the first episode and yesterday’s episode so you can compare the two to see how things have changed over the past year.

Over the past year, we’ve also featured several special guests on the show, including AiG’s Dr. Danny Faulkner, Dr. Nathaniel Jeanson, Dr. Tommy Mitchell, Dr. Andrew Snelling, Roger Patterson, Bryan Osborne, and Avery Foley; Camp Infinity’s Dan Wooster; and Todd Friel of Wretched.

Answers News airs every Monday and Thursday at 2 p.m. (Eastern Time) from my Facebook page (episodes are also archived on our Answers in Genesis’ YouTube channel). To get notifications when we go live, “like” my page and make sure you are “following” me. You won’t want to miss this informative half-hour, fast-paced program. And, even though we’re discussing news items, we try to make sure it’s fun, while still giving you answers to the issues of our day.

Even though we’re discussing news items, we try to make sure it’s fun, while still giving you answers to the issues of our day.

On yesterday’s Answers News, we covered supposed “alien life” discoveries in 2017, Scotland banning spanking, H&M closing stores in South Africa over a “racist” shirt, and what we “know” in 2018.

Another item we covered, that I thought was of particular interest since it came out of my home country of Australia, was in reference to the recent “No” Campaign. This campaign urged Australians to vote “no” to same-sex marriage during a nonbinding postal survey. Sadly, enough Australians voted “yes,” then Parliament decided to pass same-sex marriage legislation in December. Well, the “No” Campaign people had urged voters to consider the implications of same-sex marriage because, for LGBT activists, it’s really not about marriage—that’s just a starting point. What they really want to do is force their secular views about marriage, family, and gender on the culture.

And this news item reveals that the “No” Campaign was exactly right. Now that the LGBT lobby has gotten rid of a biblical definition of marriage, they are moving onto “trans and intersex rights and gender diversity issues.” Gender ideology—and forcing this secular view on everyone, especially children—is next. Christians need to be prepared—and need to be equipping their children—to think biblically and to have gospel-centered conversations on this issue. You can hear the rest of what we said about this issue in the episode of Answers News linked to above.

Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,
Ken
