For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, I do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that you might be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding. (Colossians 1:9)
On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us, as you help us by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on our behalf for the gracious favor granted us in answer to the prayers of many. (2 Corinthians 1:10–11)
Dear praying friends of Answers in Genesis,
We encourage you to stay updated on current ministry prayer requests through the following means:
As AiG continues to equip Christians and evangelize the lost, there are several major initiatives we want to bring to your attention for earnest prayer.
As you may be aware, AiG has received adequate funding to begin construction of the Ark Encounter. At the same time, many millions more are needed this year for ongoing construction and exhibit building, so please pray that God’s people will be prompted to donate to this evangelistic outreach and to purchase memberships. It will feature a full-size Noah’s Ark when open in northern Kentucky (about 40 miles from our Creation Museum) in the summer of 2016. Key planning has already been completed, and construction has begun and is progressing rapidly. The Ark of Noah’s time was a vessel of physical salvation. Similarly, this new Ark will proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ—the Ark of eternal salvation. Please pray that construction will continue smoothly and for the workers’ safety.
We also ask for your prayers in regard to the lawsuit we filed against the state of Kentucky. In refusing to give us future tax incentives that are equally available to any tourist attraction that meets certain qualifications (all of which we met), the state has clearly shown religious discrimination (e.g., making demands about the hiring of our staff and telling us not to share our faith at the Ark). In an effort to preserve religious freedom here in Kentucky, we have filed a lawsuit against the state. You can learn more about this suit and why it was necessary here.
Another major initiative, just completed, is one that equips the church with a much-needed Sunday school curriculum, which will help children, teens, and adults to have answers for the Christian faith. Pray for its wide distribution. Designed for all age levels and covering three years’ worth of Sundays, Answers Bible Curriculum will, we pray, help stem the tide of so many young people leaving the church because they don’t have answers to the challenging questions skeptics pose about the Bible. Sadly, many teens and young adults who attend Christian colleges are also leaving the church and others are losing confidence in the Bible because of the compromised teaching they receive at school (which is one of the themes of our book Already Compromised). Praise the Lord: Now that we have completed three years of this engaging curriculum, we are working on updating the content for a future edition of ABC.
Please pray for this summer’s Answers Vacation Bible School (VBS) program called Camp Kilimanjaro. Every day our kids are faced with choices about who to listen to, who their hearts will worship, how to speak to and about others, whether to work diligently at school or home, who to hang out with, and so on. Will they choose wisely or foolishly? Please pray for the children who attend Camp Kilimanjaro this summer and their parents, and for our curriculum team as it plans VBS programs for future years.
Finally, we ask you to pray that many young adults will visit the Creation Museum in 2015. Last year we ran a hugely successful Kids Free 2014 campaign that saw many thousands of children visit the museum. This year we’ve launched a new campaign, “2 Buy 2,” to especially encourage families with older children to tour the museum. We want to see young people put their faith and trust in God and in His Word, from the very beginning! We also want to equip students with the answers they need for the skeptical questions they are sure to encounter in high school and college. Please pray that these young people will be strengthened and encouraged to stand solidly on God’s Word.
Our ongoing prayer is that our nation’s churches will stand with us to proclaim the vital truth that God's Word can be trusted, from Genesis to the gospel and the rest of the New Testament. Pray, too, that more churches will be represented at our Creation Museum, and that non-Christians will visit in even greater numbers and respond to the gospel.
We believe that prayer is our most strategic weapon in waging the war against compromise on God’s Word, and AiG encourages you to make a commitment in lifting up the rebuilding of biblical foundations in our church and culture. We ask that you pray throughout the day as God brings Answers in Genesis to mind and to consider fasting once a month, asking God to glorify His name in the ministry of AiG.
