How to Make America Great Again

Tomorrow is Inauguration Day here in the United States. On this day President-elect Donald Trump will become President Trump. He has promised to make America great again. Well, God’s Word tells us exactly how to do that!

To truly make America really great again, Americans need to put God first and turn to His Word as the absolute authority in all areas.

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness. (Matthew 6:33)
Thus says the Lord . . . “I am the First and I am the Last; besides Me there is no God.” (Isaiah 44:6)

Here’s a challenge we can apply to our culture as this new season of leadership begins:

Return to the Lord your God and obey his voice . . . with all your heart and with all your soul. (Deuteronomy 30:2)

Man—Basically Good?

Many people believe we don’t need God because man is basically good. But that’s a false assumption.

The imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth. (Genesis 8:21)

What does God say about man's heart?

For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, slander. (Matthew 15:19 ESV)
The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it? (Jeremiah 17:9)

Here is God’s Word on those who reject Him:

They are corrupt, doing abominable iniquity; there is none who does good. (Psalm 53:1 ESV)

The only One who is good is God.

No one is good but One, that is, God. (Matthew 19:17)

As our Creator, God has every right to judge sinful man. And He will judge every person. To all my non-Christian followers, I urge you at this time to consider your life, death, and eternity:

That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9)

Is the Majority Right?

Many people refuse to listen to God’s Word because they’ve bought the culture’s lie that it can’t be trusted. They’ve sided with the majority. But is the majority right?

Well, the majority of doctors once didn't wash their hands after autopsies and before delivering babies—they were wrong! The majority believed the appendix didn’t have a function—they were wrong. The majority of scientists believe in molecules-to-man evolution—the majority is obviously wrong. Just because the majority believes something doesn’t mean it’s right.

If you believe that the majority rules, there can never be truth. What or who determined that the majority rules? What if the majority rules that the majority is not always right? When it comes to things like origins, one should be suspicious of what the majority believes because “men loved darkness rather than light” (John 3:19). The majority of people are on the broad way, “for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it” (Matthew 7:13).

Sadly, many are blinded to the truth of God’s Word because “the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers” (2 Corinthians 4:4 ESV).

God’s Word is the Authority

We don’t need to be at the mercy of the changing opinions of the majority. God’s Word provides a firm foundation for morality.

Sadly, many Christians are no longer allowing God’s Word to be the authority, and are exalting man’s fallible word over Scripture. We see this clearly when man’s beliefs of millions of years and evolution are forced into the book of Genesis—the very foundation of Scripture and doctrine.

It’s no wonder many people of this generation in the church have embraced gay “marriage,” abortion, premarital sex, and other things Scripture speaks strongly against. Scripture is no longer their authority—man’s word is. As a result, we are seeing a generational loss from the church!

Speaking with Authority

But when we trust God’s Word, we can use it to speak with authority, just as Jesus did. He didn’t speak to be politically correct but to teach truth—and truth divides.

And they were astonished at His teaching, for He taught them as one having authority. (Mark 1:22)

Here’s an example. In the midst of culture confusion, can Christians speak with authority on gender issues? Yes. “But from the beginning of the creation, God ‘made them male and female’” (Mark 10:6).

Or on marriage:

Then the rib which the Lord God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man.

And Adam said:

This is now bone of my bones

And flesh of my flesh;

She shall be called Woman,

Because she was taken out of Man.

Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. (Genesis 2:22–24)

Consider God’s Word and the Gospel

God’s Word needs to be our authority. It provides a rock-solid foundation in a culture that changes with each generation. I encourage you to carefully consider Christianity and the Bible.
