Overview

Terry Mortenson, a former missionary who currently serves as an AiG researcher and speaker, earned his Ph.D. in the history of geology from Coventry University in England. These are five of his most popular talks on the myth of an old universe.

Standing Against the Myth Audio

The Age of the Earth—Why Does it Matter? - 49 minutes
This talk looks at five reasons for believing that the age of the earth is vitally important to the church. It is not a side issue, over which Christians can just “agree to disagree.” Accepting billions of years (or evolution) greatly weakens the church and her proclamation of the Gospel.

Millions of Years—Where Did the Idea Come From? - 60 minutes
Based on Dr. Mortenson’s groundbreaking Ph.D. research, this talk shows that old-earth geologists of the early 1800s were not swayed by rocks and fossils, but by their own anti-biblical worldviews imposed on the evidence.

The Origin of Species—Was Darwin Right? - 44 minutes
This talk presents evidence from paleontology and biology showing that Darwin’s theory is false and the biblical account of the origin of the various kinds of plants and animals is true. Dr. Mortenson ends with the spiritual implications of this issue.
