Common Ground

Tourists have another reason to find common ground with biblical creationists when it comes to the formation of canyons.

Last year, for the first time, tours were opened for the public to view a 1 1/2 mile (2.4 km) canyon—up to 80 feet (24 m) deep—carved in three days at Lake Gorge, Texas. An overflowing spillway carved the canyon through multiple layers of rock.

An Associated Press report dismissed comparisons between what happened in Texas and the Grand Canyon, insisting “it took water around 5 million to 6 million years to carve the Grand Canyon.”

Yet if a single event in Texas can carve a gorge in three days, it is easy to imagine what could have happened during the major catastrophes after the Flood.
