Our world is hurting. Coronavirus fears, record unemployment, anxiety about the future, and more seem to be driving a spike in “adverse mental health conditions, substance use, and suicidal ideation,” according to a new study of American adults from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Reportedly, 25.5% of Americans, ages 18-24, “seriously considered suicide” in June and 74.9% “reported having at least one mental or behavioral health condition during June.”

The only ultimate answer is the eternal hope, peace, and joy that comes through the gospel of Jesus Christ and believing the Word of God.

What is the answer for our hurting friends, family, and colleagues? The only ultimate answer is the eternal hope, peace, and joy that comes through the gospel of Jesus Christ and believing the Word of God. There’s no other answer! Our world is broken and cursed—there will always be massive issues and problems. It’s been that way since sin first entered creation and ruined God’s “very good” world. Temporal solutions might help for a moment, but ultimately they will fail because our real problem is a spiritual one—the sin that separates us from a holy God. The only ultimate solution to this sin problem, and the other problems that come from it, is the gospel of Jesus Christ!

We need to be pointing people to God’s Word and gospel as their hope. But often when we direct people to God’s Word, we’re met with resistance—after all, in our secular day and age, people have been conditioned to believe that the Bible isn’t true. That’s why we need to be equipped with answers for the questions of our day! So that we can show the Bible can be trusted, and therefore the message of the gospel can also be trusted.

You can get answers on why we should start with the Bible and how we can know the Bible is true at a special online conference event from our friends at Living Waters, Saturday, August 29, 2020, from 12–5 p.m. (ET). It will conclude with a live Q&A panel. I’m glad to be taking part in the conference.

During this one-day event, you’ll hear me give a presentation on how the Bible explains why we live in a world of death and suffering—and understand that God is a God of love. I’ll be joining these excellent speakers:

  • Ray Comfort, evangelist and founder and CEO of Living Waters
  • Emeal “E.Z.” Zwayne, president of Living Waters
  • Mark Spence, senior vice president of Living Waters
  • Bodie Hodge, a speaker and author with AiG
  • Dr. Wayne Grudem, research professor of Theology and Biblical Studies at Phoenix Seminary
  • James White, director of Alpha and Omega Ministries
  • Matt Slick, president and founder of the Christian Apologetics and Research Ministry (CARM)
  • Phil Johnson, executive director and radio host of Grace to You, the media ministry of Pastor John MacArthur, who is also the senior pastor of Grace Community Church in California
  • Jeremy Vuolo, a pastor and TV star on TLC’s Counting On program, featuring the famous Duggar family

I encourage you to register today for this exciting online event and equip yourself to boldly and passionately share with the world the only ultimate solution to our sin problem—and all the problems that stem from it—the gospel of Jesus Christ and the truth of God’s Word.
