Honoring Godly Mothers on Mother’s Day

I cannot stress the importance of godly parents enough in the life of a child. Many parents leave the spiritual development of their children up to the church—but it’s not ultimately the church’s responsibility. It’s yours as a parent (Deuteronomy 6:6–9). And I am so thankful for the many parents who take this responsibility seriously. And today, on Mother’s Day here in the US, I want to specifically honor mothers—such as my wife, Mally, and my mother (who is 91 and prays for us daily.)

Mothers who teach their children biblical principles are going against the grain of society. Our increasingly secular world is telling parents they must not teach a biblical view of morality—especially when it comes to sexuality and gender. They are told they’re not to teach a biblical view of origins or science but must compromise on the truth of God’s Word and teach only evolution and millions of years without criticism or alternative. I am so thankful for the many mothers and fathers who stand firm against this growing tide of secularism and guide their children to love God and his Word and boldly stand without compromise on biblical authority.

Mothers—you are making a difference for eternity. I think back to my own days as a child with parents who loved God, loved his Word, and were committed to helping us think biblically—and who equipped us to defend the faith against secular attacks. My Mum (Australian for “mom”) used to always tell me, “Only what is done for Jesus will last.” That has stuck with me all these years. My godly Mum (my father is with the Lord) continues to pray for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren every single day. She has had a multi-generational influence, and I am thankful for her commitment to the Lord. My wife, Mally, has an incredible impact on not just our children but our 17 grandchildren as well.

Being a mother is a hard job, but don’t give up. Be encouraged—your faithfulness to the Lord and his Word is having an eternal impact.

Moms Enjoy Half-Price Admission on Mother’s Day Today

As I wrote last week: To celebrate moms, we’re offering all mothers (whether by birth, adoption, or pregnancy), half-price admission today to the Ark Encounter and the Creation Museum here in Northern Kentucky (near Cincinnati). We hope many moms will take advantage of this special price to get equipped to think biblically and have answers for the questions of our day, while they have a fun day at one or both of our attractions.

Plan your visit at ArkEncounter.com and CreationMuseum.org.

Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,
Ken
