Australia Votes “Yes” to Same-Sex “Marriage”

The prime minister of Australia was quoted in The New York Times as saying,

The Australian people have spoken, and they have voted overwhelmingly ‘yes’ for marriage equality. . . . they voted ‘yes’ for fairness, they voted ‘yes’ for commitment, they voted ‘yes’ for love.

But Australians didn't vote "'yes' for love" as the Prime Minister claims. They voted “yes” for sin, “yes” for darkness, “yes” for man's word over God's Word, “yes” for a perversion of the only true marriage that God invented—one man, for one woman (Genesis 1:27; Genesis 2:24).

We must remember that God, not politicians, invented marriage:

Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female, and said, “Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh”? (Matthew 19:4–5)

Ultimately, marriage is not a social, government, or cultural institution—marriage is God’s institution. Since God created marriage, only he has the authority to define marriage—and he has defined it as between one man and one woman for life.
