Reach the World for Christ at the 2016 Olympics

by Ken Ham on February 8, 2016

Jesus’ final words in the Gospel of Matthew were a command to make disciples of all nations: “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 28:19). Well, the Olympic Games are a chance to do just that!

Millions of spectators and athletes from over 200 countries will be gathering in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, for this year’s Summer Olympics. And that’s in addition to the already over 6 million Rio residents! This is a tremendous opportunity to reach people from “all the nations” with the gospel of Jesus Christ. And you can be part of this outreach effort!

In less than 200 days, August 8–17, 2016, a team of 110 people from around the world will be hitting the streets of Rio with the Good News. Dr. David R. Crandall, director of Olympic Ministries and former international director of AiG Worldwide (now Answers International), has written a new gospel booklet entitled The 7th Wonder. This eye-catching booklet starts with the Seven Wonders of the Modern World—which include the Christ the Redeemer statue that overlooks the city of Rio—and transitions into an adaptation of the Seven C’s of History. The Seven C’s is a highly effective creation-evangelism presentation that starts with Genesis, explaining why we’re all sinners who deserve death, and then showing Jesus Christ, the only Savior.

These witnessing booklets are being translated into 10 languages for distribution by Olympic Outreach team members. And a special follow-up program has even been set up to establish new believers in their faith, help them find a Bible-believing church, and get additional Christian materials.

Well, spots are filling up fast, but there’s still time to register for this unique evangelistic outreach in Rio. The cost is $1,200, which includes accommodations at a stunning Christian camp in the Brazilian jungle, transportation in Rio, and all meals (airline tickets and spending money are not included). For American participants, visas have been waived for visiting Brazil during the Olympics, so they are no longer required.

This trip is a tremendous opportunity to spread the Good News about Christ to thousands of people, many of whom come from countries where there are few churches or Christians. You can learn more about this life-changing trip or register at Rio16Outreach.com.

Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,
Ken
