A Special VBS Outreach in Memory of a Dear AiG Friend

by Ken Ham on August 30, 2015

We have many great staff members. One of the most cheerful long-time museum workers is Stan Vandiver. I have known Stan for probably 18 years. The first time we met was when he and his late wife Roberta attended one of our very first family camps in the Cincinnati metropolitan area. Sadly, Roberta, who worked many years as a volunteer in the AiG offices (she and Stan drove about 75 minutes each way from the Dayton, Ohio area to be with us), passed away in May. In her memory, the Vandivers’ church decided to do something very special over the summer during the children’s Vacation Bible School program. Most VBS outreaches highlight a ministry that the children can donate to with their pennies (and nickels, dimes, and so on). This church, Emmanuel Baptist in Dayton, which has used AiG’s VBS curricula, thought it would be wonderful to honor Roberta with a gift, from the children, in her memory, and send it to the ministry that was so close to Roberta’s heart: the Creation Museum.

Stan wrote to me:

As you know, Roberta went home to be with the Lord in May. Our church had their VBS outreach and had a penny drive. The children brought in over 50 pounds of pennies. As a memorial to Roberta, they elected to donate all the money collected to the Creation Museum in her honor. The amount was over $500.

Please pray for Stan as he continues to mourn the passing of Roberta.

Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,
