A Tribute to a Godly MomMore and more people in the church are beginning to understand that Answers in Genesis is not just about creation/evolution, the age of the earth, the six days of creation, etc.—but the emphasis of this ministry is the authority of God’s Word and the gospel. As I have said so many times, the age of the earth and six days of creation aren’t salvation issues, but they are authority issues—is the Bible the absolute authority of God’s Word or is it not? And of course it is. When people take the pagan religion of the day (evolution/millions of years) and reinterpret the clear teaching of Scripture, they are undermining the authority of the Word of God—and that’s what has been lost from church and culture.
It was thrilling to receive this letter this past week that not only emphasizes that the battle is about authority, but is a great tribute to a godly mom:
My mother was a very passionate supporter of Answers in Genesis . . . . my mother went to be with her Savior back on May 18th. The Lord took her home after an 11 year battle with ovarian cancer. She was an amazing woman of God and was ready to defend her faith and the Word of God with her life! Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,
I wanted to write you personally Ken to inform you and thank you for the special place in my mom’s heart and now mine that your ministry has become. She would constantly speak well of the ministry and material and though I’m a believer and believed in 6 literal days of creation, I didn’t [g]et why it was such a big deal to my mom. It wasn’t until I got to visit the Creation Museum with my mom and wife and kids that I finally understood why my mom was so passionate about it! The authority of God’s Word is at stake and I’ve known no other person as passionate about God’s Word as my mom was. So in short Mr. Ham, thank you SO much for all the work you have done for the Kingdom and equipping God’s children to defend their faith! I’ve even had the privilege recently of sharing the Gospel in my World Religion class with 40 students in it emphasizing the fall in Genesis and that is why we need a Savior and that is why there is pain and suffering in the world today. It all goes back to Genesis! I even got to debate my professor on a couple of private occasions and was well equipped to answer his questions. I pray God would open his eyes to see his need for a Savior.
I wish you could have had the privilege of knowing my mom and how much your ministry meant to her. But praise God you will get to meet her someday and I’ll get to see her again too because of the cross! I sincerely thank you from the bottom of my heart and pray that God will continue to bless your wonderful ministry! I hope I have the privilege of meeting you face to face someday to thank you in person.
