We continue to be awestruck on how God has brought explosive opportunity and growth to Answers Worldwide. We just want to be obedient and follow where the Lord is leading.
Answers Worldwide had the privilege this month of joining up with Canopy Ministries Peru, led by Creous and Elizabeth Ramdath in Lima, for the Fourth Latin American Creation Congress on November 4–8, 2014. This congress is held every three years and brings speakers as well as attendees from outside of Peru’s borders.
This year’s speakers were Creous Ramdath, Elizabeth Ramdath, Dr. Andy C. McIntosh from England, Pastor Miguel Guimet from Peru, Dr. John Whitmore, Dr. Alan White, Steve Ham (AiG), and Joe Owen (AiG) from the USA. The congress met in the mornings and some of the evenings at Iglesia Biblica Cristiana in Molina, Lima. In the afternoons, the speakers went to San Marcos University and split up into different classrooms where they were afforded the privilege of teaching biblical creation in this secular university to up to 500 youth per lecture hall. This was a great honor and we are pleased to report a very successful congress! Creous and Elizabeth were very gracious to invite AiG Worldwide to take part in this impactful congress. We pray for more opportunities to come alongside their ministry in serving and equipping the local church in Peru and South America to stand on the authority of the Word of God from the very first verse.
We had the wonderful opportunity to meet pastors and leaders not only from Peru, but from surrounding countries as well, such as Ecuador. There was such a hunger for answers and when the time came for purchasing resources, many eager participants flooded the book tables to take answers back to their churches and homes—answers that point to the Word of God for the foundation of the natural history around us, which then point to the gospel that the same Bible propounds.
During the week of this conference, another ministry was holding a conference at a stadium on the San Marcos University campus and asked if AiG would be available to share a few topics at their meeting. Those are the times when all we can do is just be thankful to God for providing ministry opportunities that we didn’t even ask for! So, upon invitation, on Friday evening, Joe Owen, manager of Latin/Hispanic ministry of AiG, shared a presentation titled “The Relevance of Genesis in Today’s World,” then on Saturday evening, Steve Ham, director of Answers Worldwide shared “Defending the Christian Faith.” On Sunday morning, Joe Owen was able to share again, but this time on “The Origin of the Supposed Races.”
No matter where we go in the world, we find the same questions, “What about the dinosaurs? Was there really a worldwide flood? Where did Cain get his wife? Did we really come from ape-like creatures?” And no matter what language, people group or culture, the answers are the same, because it is the same Word of God, and it, by definition, is truth.
As we move ahead into 2015, the conference calendar is filling up. Although this is exciting for us, it also brings to reality the need for more resources. It takes hours of tedious labor to get one book into Spanish and we are looking for volunteers who would like to come alongside what God is doing and use their gifts and talents to help us get these resources into different languages. But some may say, “I only speak Spanish, or Portuguese, or Russian, etc. How can I help?” Well, you can pray in any language! Please pray for us! Also, we need funding. Venturing into different countries has a tremendous upfront cost, but the results have proven again and again that the fruit of such sacrifice is so much greater! Would you like to join us?
In the meantime, carry on as the bride of Christ, giving answers for the hope that is in you.
