The Great Pyramid of Giza has stood for millennia, having been built sometime after Babel (secular scientists believe it is around 4,600 years old, but that would put it before the global flood, so we know it is younger than that). Apparently, earthquakes rock that region of Egypt, and yet the immense structure has only lost 33 feet of height after all those centuries. And scientists have just discovered why.
Researchers placed vibration sensors in various places throughout and around the pyramid (apparently a common practice in historic sites to ensure the structure is still stable) and found that “vibrations were remarkably similar” throughout the pyramid. Here’s why:
The new study of vibrations throughout the pyramid’s structure suggests that certain architectural features, such as a series of chambers known as the pressure-relieving chambers above the chamber where the pharaoh Khufu once rested, dampen seismic movement toward the top of the structure. . . .
Other features contributing to the pyramid’s stability include its massive base, strong limestone foundation and symmetrical geometry. . . . The vibrations do increase toward the top of the structure, which is typical in most buildings . . . but this pattern is interrupted by the pressure-relieving chambers that sit about 200 feet (61 m) high inside the pyramid. These chambers lie over the King’s Chamber and are thought to have been built to take some of the weight off the pharaoh’s final resting place. They also, it turns out, dampen vibrations that otherwise might travel toward the structure’s apex.
In other words, the architectural marvel that is the Great Pyramid is even more sophisticated than we thought! As one researcher put it,
The study highlights the extraordinary practical engineering knowledge of ancient Egyptian builders, who developed highly effective construction practices through centuries of experimentation and refinement.
Studies like this, however, show that mankind has always been intelligent and great at solving problems.
Because of evolutionary indoctrination, many people view our ancestors as less intelligent than we are. Evolution teaches that man slowly evolved over millions of years, from an apelike creature to simple hunter-gatherer societies to more complex agrarian societies. Because of this, people imbibe the idea that we’re much more intelligent than people in the past—but we aren’t! That’s why many resort to claiming aliens had to build the structure. Studies like this, however, show that mankind has always been intelligent and great at solving problems.
Of course, in a biblical worldview, this is what we would expect. Mankind was created perfect with perfect intelligence, and, well, we’re actually getting worse due to the compounding effects of generations living in a broken, sin-cursed world! It’s no surprise that, according to the Bible, very early people were working with metals, building cities, and making musical instruments. Mankind has always been intelligent. The only reason we seem more “advanced” is because we’re standing on a few thousand years of advancement and human ingenuity, allowing us to develop amazing technologies.
Yes, the more we study the world around us, the more it confirms exactly what we’d expect starting with Scripture.
Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,
