If the United States Senate ratifies a treaty known as the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, God’s command for parents to raise their children in the way they should go may be attacked at its core. While the intent of the treaty is to protect children, it would end up attacking Bible-believing families. The treaty states that parents can only answer questions and give advice about religion and not instill religious values in their children (which is a religious position in itself).

President Obama has expressed his intent to ratify the treaty, but a movement started by the Homeschool Legal Defense Association is designed to blunt its impact. HSLDA’s project, called the Parental Rights Amendment, would protect the religious and parental freedoms already present in the U.S. Constitution.
