Biblical Dominion Hits the Big Screen

But the Bible tells a different account. In Genesis, we read that God created the land animals on day six, including dinosaurs. Humans were created on the same day, so it’s clear—dinosaurs and people did, in fact, live alongside each other.

The film suggests stewardship as the only way for dinosaurs, animals, and humans to coexist together in a new world. Throughout the film, it’s humans who must care for the dinosaurs and use technology to improve their circumstances.

This perspective actually agrees with Genesis 1:28 when God told Adam and Eve to “subdue [the earth] and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” Although a lot has changed since then because of the fall, the same principle still applies today—we’re called to be good and faithful stewards of creation, including its creatures (Proverbs 12:10, 27:23).
