In 2018, a penguin at the Sydney Aquarium named Sphen was made famous for bonding with another male penguin. The two birds even raised two chicks that another penguin couple had given them. Sphen was recently back in the news after his death.
Since entering the public eye, Sphen and his partner have been used to justify same-sex attraction as “natural.” If animals do it, it must be moral, people claim. But God created man, not animals, in his image. Animals are not moral creatures, and we should not look to them to determine morality. Animals also engage in what we classify as rape, murder, torture, and cannibalism—evidence of a fallen, sin-cursed world. Nature does not teach us moral or biblical behavior. Instead, we should turn to God’s Word, which tells us how we should live and defines marriage as the union of one man and one woman (Genesis 1 and 2).
Wildlife is moving into big cites. How are these creatures adapting?
