You Can’t Undo the Consequences: Detransitioner Shares His Story with AiG

Ideas have consequences—bad ideas have victims.

And that’s why we want to share the story of Josey with you.

Through a mutual connection, the social media team at Answers in Genesis was introduced to a young man named Josey. Several years ago, he was enticed by the idea that he could become a woman—it seemed like the answer to his struggles. He was soon on cross-sex hormones and eventually pursued life-altering surgeries. After all these “treatments,” Josey looked on the outside like the woman he believed he was. According to transgender ideology, he’d achieved exactly what he needed to live his “authentic self.”

But Josey’s mental health continued to deteriorate, and the physical pain from his surgery was intense, far beyond what he’d ever imagined or been told. The relief and happiness that was promised from hormones and surgery was short-lived, and eventually, he realized it was all a lie.

Josey’s story is hard to listen to—the medical details of what he underwent are not pretty. But he wants others to be warned so they don’t make the same irreversible decisions that he made. AiG’s Avery Foley and Bryan Osborne sat down with him to let him share his story, including the hope and freedom he’s found in Christ. We encourage you to listen to his story (if you have teens, have them listen too—they need to understand the reality of what the transgender movement is championing—but discretion is advised due to the nature of the topic and some disturbing details of the surgical aftermath).

It’s heartbreaking to hear the consequences that come from rejecting God’s good design as male or female—they are very real and often very irreversible. Lasting happiness won’t ever come from living according to our ever-changing feelings and rejecting how God has created us to be. Rather, a life of freedom and joy comes from following Christ and having an identity grounded in him and what he did for us on the cross.

Christ—not hormones and surgery—is the answer this confused generation needs! We urge believers to pray for and come alongside those confused and victimized by this insidious agenda.
