Newly Discovered Dinosaur Behaved Like a Bird?

Now, when we see headlines such as “Dinosaur from newfound species died in a pose that sheds light on evolution of bird behavior,” the first question we have to ask is, “Did they find a bird or a dinosaur?” And nearly every time the headline says the creature was “bird-like” or had “bird-like behaviors,” what you’re reading about is a bird, not a dinosaur!

If it looks like a bird and acted like a bird (as much as we can answer that from the fossil record), then it was likely a bird!

Because evolutionists are so convinced of their story that dinosaurs evolved into birds, they will often describe birds as dinosaurs (even living birds!). It’s often really difficult to distinguish whether an article is describing a bird or a dinosaur! But, as is the case with this new creature, if it looks like a bird and acted like a bird (as much as we can answer that from the fossil record), then it was likely a bird!

This is a good reminder to be discerning as we read the news; headlines certainly don’t tell the whole story! And if something seems to contradict God’s Word, and you know your interpretation of Scripture is not faulty, take a closer look at what the scientists actually found versus what they’ve interpreted. Scientists are fallible, weren’t there in the past, and often make mistakes. And their research reflects these limitations.

But God’s Word is eternal, written by the Eyewitness to all of history who has never made a mistake and indeed cannot make a mistake (he’s infallible). We must always ensure we’re starting with his Word when it comes to interpreting the past. And when we start with his Word, we know one kind of creature (like a dinosaur) won’t turn into a different kind of creature (like a bird) and that fossils weren’t formed millions of years ago (most were formed during the global flood a few thousand years ago).
