Let’s see—a church in northern Indiana, bad weather, Super Bowl Sunday, the home team playing in the big game. A recipe for disaster, right? Wrong! The Lord truly blessed the efforts of the pastor and staff of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Hebron, Indiana, this past weekend.
Pastor Frank McClure felt very strongly that his community needed the message of Answers in Genesis. He had been praying diligently that the Lord would burden the hearts of people to come and have their faith strengthened—that they would be in church instead of in front of their TV sets. This church usually has a Sunday night attendance of 100. Last Sunday night we had 160! One hundred sixty very enthusiastic folks, I might add.
It was wonderful to hear the testimonies of those who had been encouraged by our ministry. Many told me of how excited they were to visit the Creation Museum and how it renewed their confidence in the authority of God’s Word.
One of the sweetest moments came when I was speaking to a precious lady who had been witnessing to several family members. She had several questions that she had been having difficulty with, and we discussed these for a time. Suddenly, she smiled at me and said, “I wish I could keep you in my pocket. You have all the answers!”
I certainly don’t claim to have all the answers. However, it is a privilege to have the opportunity of helping equip Christians to stand firmly and boldly on the Word of God. Even on Super Bowl Sunday.
