Introducing Dr. Danny Faulkner

Dr. Danny R. Faulkner earned graduate degrees in physics and astronomy and taught at the University of South Carolina Lancaster for over 26 years. Dr. Faulkner is a member of the Creation Research Society and also serves as the editor of the Creation Research Society Quarterly. He has written more than a hundred papers in various astronomy and astrophysics journals, and is author of the new book The Created Cosmos. He has been the Answers in Genesis staff astronomer since January 2013.

Big Problems with the Big Bang

For a half century, the big bang has been the dominant model for the origin of the universe. Consequently, many Christians feel compelled to accept the big bang as true. Therefore, the same Christians want to make the big bang the basis for understanding what the Bible reveals about how the world began. But is this wise? The lesson from history suggests that it is not, because previous attempts to wed Genesis to current cosmologies have resulted in disasters.

But is the big bang model even good science? The big bang has encountered many difficulties. The solution always has been to change the theory to explain away these difficulties and contradictory data as it arises. Is it proper practice in science to continually change a model in this way? If a model can be changed so easily to meet each new adversity, then it can never be disproved. This sounds more like dogma than science. More importantly, is the big bang model biblical? There are many ways that the big bang model contradicts clear teachings of Scripture. In my presentation, I will discuss these issues and more.

What About UFOs and ET’s

Nearly everyone asks, “Are we alone in the universe?” “Can there be other beings like us on other planets?” “What are we to make of all those UFO sightings?” “Are they spaceships flown by aliens from other worlds?” Most answers to these questions are based upon the assumption of the naturalistic origin and evolution of life. But that ought not be the approach of Christians. Instead, we need to start with the God’s Word. Though the Bible does not directly address the question of life elsewhere in the universe, we can employ biblical principles to answer these questions. If life exists elsewhere, we can be sure that God created it. This then makes these questions theological. In this presentation, I will give biblically based answers to these important questions.
