Do unbelievers care about Genesis? No. You’ve probably encountered this reality when talking with friends or neighbors. How do I know? The Gallup survey shows that a majority of Americans reject six-day creation.1 Chances are, you’ve run into someone who thinks the plain reading of Genesis 1 belongs in church on Sunday, but nowhere else. Definitely not in the science classroom.
Over the years, we’ve worked hard to counter this reality. We’ve published books, web articles, videos, and other resources to equip believers in evangelizing their unsaved friends and family. We’ve exhorted the lost: “See, the history in Genesis is true; therefore, the gospel based on Genesis is true.” It’s a good method.
Recently, a new door has opened to the unbelieving world. Surprisingly, the key has been the pre-European history of the Americas.
Mainstream science holds a secret. It doesn’t have an answer to what happened in the Americas before Columbus. Oh, sure, mainstream scientists have archaeological sites and cultures with academic names attached to them. They have dates based on laboratory methods for when the cultures rose and fell. But they struggle to connect Native American peoples at the time of European contact to these sites. They don’t have a history for North America like they do for Europe.
I should correct myself: This isn’t really a secret. You already know it’s true. I know it’s true. How? The pre-European history of the Americas isn’t taught in K–12 schools. I never learned it. If you did learn anything about it, you might have learned the archaeological cultures. But you didn’t learn a history like you do for Europe because mainstream science doesn’t have this history. It’s an open secret.
I’ve been doing genetic research—based on Genesis—for more than 15 years. Surprisingly, genetics isn’t just about creation/evolution. It’s also about the age of the earth. It turns out that it really does make a difference if you think the universe originated 6,000 years ago or 16 billion years ago. Even more important for our purposes, the timescale has a huge effect on a researcher’s ability to make bona fide scientific discoveries.

My research has not been done in secret. The results have been published publicly in books and open-access journals. But the discoveries haven’t made any press. Well, not initially.
In 2020, I made some big discoveries with genetics about the pre-European history of the Americas.2 The discoveries found an echo in Native American histories. Together, these lined up with linguistics and archaeology. The end result? A history that mainstream science hasn’t been able to deliver.
We’ve been releasing the results of the project on YouTube. Several videos have gone viral.
What’s more, unbelievers have contacted me about the research. They’ve said things like “I don’t like that Bible stuff in your research, but I think you’re onto something.”
In December of 2023, I presented my research on DNA and indigenous histories to the Lakota Treaty Council conference in Rapids City, SD. The Lakota have vigorously maintained their indigenous worldview. I heard plenty of anti-Christian and anti-colonial talk at the conference. I was not invited to present at a Christian conference. Yet the Lakota had reached out to me—someone they’d have nothing to do with otherwise—because the research based on Genesis was confirming indigenous migration accounts. At least, that’s the only explanation I could come up with. Without the research, I think the door to this non-Christian community would have remained firmly shut.
My research on the history of pre-European North America is the most recent of many projects I’ve done. I’ve published on Darwin and the origin of species, where we made groundbreaking discoveries on fundamental creation/evolution questions. I’ve also published on the genetics of human history—even finding Noah in our DNA! But unbelievers didn’t seem to contact me about those projects the way they’re contacting me about this one.
Something has struck a nerve. This research has forced unbelievers to sit up and pay attention to Genesis in ways they’ve not be forced to pay attention before.

If you want to read more about this history that’s revolutionizing the non-Christian culture, you can find more information in my most recent book, They Had Names: Tracing the History of the North American Indigenous People.
