What Fuels Answers in Genesis?

This year, I had our artists create a special picture to help people understand how Answers in Genesis is like an engine that runs the many cogs of the ministry, resulting in millions upon millions being impacted each year.

And it needs “fuel.”

Now, the seven cogs pictured above are the major cogs and consist of the following:

I could also say that there are many cogs within the major cogs! But the point I want to make is that Answers in Genesis is much more than just the very visible attractions, the Ark Encounter and Creation Museum. Answers in Genesis is a major ministry with many different cogs impacting people domestically and globally.

For instance, our VBS program is used in around 15,000 churches annually, impacting an estimated one million+ children a year! Our speaking and translation ministry is reaching people in many different countries around the globe. Our social media (posts, videos, etc.) is viewed by hundreds of millions annually. Our publications (books and curricula) reach countless people each year.

And the list goes on.

Now, in the US, people are used to special end-of-year campaigns for raising funds through donations for nonprofit organizations. In fact, for many nonprofits, the end-of-year campaign provides a major part of their budget.

When I first came to America in 1987, I really did not understand this emphasis on end-of-year fundraising. You see, in Australia, donations to churches and Christian nonprofits like Answers in Genesis are not tax-deductible. People give sacrificially without any tax benefit. Certainly, we are blessed in America to be able to have such an opportunity to receive a tax benefit, and what a blessing this is to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations.

For the past few years, AiG has been greatly blessed to receive a matching-gift grant from a generous foundation. This grant (and our generous supporters who give to help us reach each year’s goal) has enabled us to expand the two attractions, build new exhibits, and more.

This year, the foundation has granted us our biggest matching gift ever—$12 million.

This year, the same foundation wanted to help our core ministry—the engine that fuels all the various aspects of AiG with all the various cogs and cogs within cogs.

This year, the foundation has granted us our biggest matching gift ever—$12 million. In other words, every dollar given for our end-of-year campaign will be matched dollar for dollar up to $12 million, providing a total potential of $24 million for all the various aspects of the AiG ministry. That’s “fuel” that can really help the AiG engine, enabling us to provide even more resources and reach more people than ever.

Each year this foundation has provided us with a matching gift, our supporters have matched it, so the foundation continues to provide this matching grant. What a blessing! Every gift given, large or small, can enable us to meet this challenge. This foundation loves to see our supporters getting behind their generous matching gift to show the broad base of support there is for the AiG ministry.
