25 Years Since 9/11 Terrorist Attacks

Today is a sobering anniversary. It was 25 years ago on this date that terrorists attacked the United States, killing nearly 3,000 people. I’m sure that, like me, many of you reading this can remember exactly where you were and what you were doing when you first heard or saw the news. It was truly horrifying.

At the time, millions of people were asking, “How could God allow this?” and a quarter of a century later, people have the same question about that tragedy and the many other tragedies that have happened since. How do we as Christians answer the “question of evil”?

Well, I recently recorded a video reflecting on the sad anniversary of 9/11. I encourage you to watch it and share it with others as people across the nation remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001.

As we reflect on the brokenness and pain of this sin-cursed world, we need to be reminded of the promises of God and what’s coming because of His grace toward us:

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them, and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain. The first things passed away.”

And He who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” (Revelation 21:1–5)

AiG’s Troy Lacey wrote an excellent article reflecting on that sad day, September 11, 2001, that I encourage you to read. It’s a sobering reminder of what happened, the impact, and why it was seared into the memory of those who witnessed it. Please share it with others on this 25th anniversary. You can find it here.

Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,
Ken
