The Truth About Climate Change

I have exciting news! Jessica DeFord and I released a new book this month, Climate Change for Kids...and Parents Too!

This is a really unique book and suitable for the whole family. It is divided into two main sections:

  1. How to develop a Christian, biblically based worldview regarding climate change, which is the section I wrote. We must start with God’s Word to properly understand the changes that have occurred on this earth and how they affect our understanding of climate over time.
  2. Dealing with science and climate change, written by Jessica DeFord, one of AiG’s scientists who has worked as a research scientist, wildlife biologist, environmental technician, and educator. Jessica helps us understand the real facts from observational science regarding many of the claims made by politicians and others about climate change.

We all need education on climate change to understand the issues correctly from a biblical and scientific perspective. And as Christians, we need to understand how to develop a truly Christian worldview on this topic. Just like we teach through the 7 C’s of History at the Creation Museum, I teach people in this book the seven climate ages based on God’s Word. Those climate ages are Perfect, Groaning, Flooding, Icy, Shifting, Fiery, and Heavenly.

Here is how Jessica ended her section of this book:

God and his Word are the ultimate authority by which we must discern all climate and weather information.

There will always be new scientific information regarding climates and weather—a new graph, chart, statistic, book, or study to look at. Scientists must remember that science is not the objective standard for truth. Science can certainly inform us, and it does confirm God’s Word, but it is not supreme. God and his Word are the ultimate authority by which we must discern all climate and weather information. After God created everything, he proclaimed it as “very good” (Genesis 1:31). The corruption that we experience in God’s creation today is because of man’s sin when he disobeyed God in the garden of Eden. Climate alarmists will not solve the problem of man’s sin by switching to alternative energy or reducing carbon emissions that they believe are caused by human activity. It is only through the death of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, that man will be made new (2 Corinthians 5:17) and exercise wise dominion for the glory of God.

And I ended my section with this statement:

A strong biblical worldview is vital to living in a climate-changed world. Neither people nor science have all the answers to effectively understand the changes we experience on earth. God is essential to our understanding of climate change and our future. Don’t be confused or frightened—you know the history and importance of the seven climate ages. Remember God’s promise in Genesis 8:22:

While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease.
