Today, January 22nd, is the 43rd anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the terrible US Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion in the United States. In reality, Roe v. Wade legalized sacrificing children to the god of self. It’s no different than what the Israelites did in sacrificing their children to pagan gods.
In Psalm 106:35–38, we read the following:
But they mingled with the Gentiles and learned their works; they served their idols, which became a snare to them. They even sacrificed their sons and their daughters to demons, and shed innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan; and the land was polluted with blood.
Last October, I wrote in detail about how similar abortion is to the child sacrifice that was seen among the Canaanites (and God’s people adopted their ways) and other cultures in the Old Testament. I encourage you to read my article “Abortion and Child Sacrifice” and to share it with your pastor, family, and friends today.
As we remember the tens of millions of unborn babies whose lives were cut short by abortion in America, I encourage you to defend the sanctity of life—the fact that each and every person is made in the image of God—boldly, courageously, and lovingly to an unbelieving culture and a compromised church.
Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,
