We Are in a Spiritual War

by Ken Ham on February 9, 2015

We are in a war—yes, a spiritual war, but a very intense war. As I read an article on the Fox News website about a young lady who went to court and won against the American Humanist Association regarding the Pledge of Allegiance and the words “under God,” I was reminded of what has been happening with AiG and our recent battle over freedom of religion/free exercise of religion issues.

There’s no doubt that there are groups who are waging a massive propaganda war against biblical Christianity in this nation, which would include secularist groups like the American Humanist Association, Freedom from Religion Foundation, Americans United for Separation of Church and State, as well as much of the secular media, even some Christian media (not all, of course—some Christian media have very publicly stood with AiG for instance), other atheist websites, and secular bloggers.

As I have read numerous media reports, articles, and blogs responding to the lawsuit leveled against the state of Kentucky by Answers in Genesis, I have been amazed at the extent to which people do not understand the law—amazed at the level of ignorance concerning the law and religious/Christian freedoms. Not only is there a misunderstanding of the law, but it certainly seems clear that the secularists have done their propaganda well. They know if you say something enough, people will start to believe it.

Even many Christians have been intimidated to think that Christians have to be treated differently under the law. And so many people in Christian and secular circles give their opinions without referring to specific legal cases or statutes—or if they do happen to (rarely) refer to a statute, they don’t refer to all of it and thus continue the dissemination of incorrect information. So many just keep spreading misinformation about the so-called “separation of church and state,” the rights of Christians, and so on.

Secularists have by and large convinced Christians they can’t really have the free exercise of religion as guaranteed by the constitution, so the intolerant secularists have been imposing their religious ideas on the culture—with great success. I believe one of the reasons the secularists have gone ballistic over this lawsuit lodged by Answers in Genesis is because it is going to very publicly bring to light the fact that Christians have been increasingly marginalized by the spread of false information that has unfortunately brainwashed much of the culture.

Make sure you watch our video news release and read the actual 48-page legal complaint by Answers in Genesis—it reads like a history explaining the battles behind the scenes that most people are unaware of. It is frustrating to see so many people making declarations about our lawsuit on my Facebook page, for instance, yet they didn’t bother to read the lawsuit or even watch the video. Instead, they just regurgitate the same old propaganda they’ve heard without checking it out.

I urge Christians to become educated on these issues—your freedoms in this nation are under attack and much ground has already been lost. However, much can be regained if God’s people become educated and get involved in the battle. Remember, the whole armor of God in Ephesians 6 is so that people will go on the offensive in battle. Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,

Ken
