Genesis Is What?

by on

According to David Lose, the director of the Center for Biblical Preaching at Luther Seminary (I understand its graduates include one-third of pastors in the denomination the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America), the book of Genesis is described the following way: “It's a story about the insecurity that is endemic to humanity and the ever-present temptation to refuse the identity that comes from the vulnerability of authentic relationship in favor of defining ourselves over and against each other.”

So what does that mean? I guess if you make something sound complicated, you sound impressively “academic” in this world!

No wonder the ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church in America) is so theologically liberal as a whole! Here is a person who is in teaching authority in a seminary, indoctrinating future “shepherds” for churches not to believe God’s Word in Genesis. So sad.

Actually, God sums the above up in Scripture, which states, “Professing to be wise, they became fools” (Romans 1:22).

If you want to waste a few minutes of your life that you will never get back, then here is the link to the whole article.

Praise the Lord that not all Lutherans are this liberal! For instance, AiG is conducting a conference in Niagara Falls, New York, sponsored by Lutherans from the Lutheran denomination called the Missouri Synod. In fact, I have spoken at their Lutheran conferences and even in some of their churches. Praise the Lord there are Lutherans who stand on God’s Word beginning in Genesis. For instance, our own Dr. David Menton, who will be speaking with me at the Niagara Falls conference, attends a Lutheran church (one that does stand for the authority of God’s Word).

For details about the Niagara Falls conference, go to the event page.

I love the title of this conference, “Let there be light.” There needs to be some “light” in Luther Seminary and the ELCA denomination! But as I have said before, this sort of compromise (as we see above) also exists in Baptist, Presbyterian, and other denominations.

What a Joy

Now here is what can happen when you do take a stand on the Word of God beginning in Genesis. We received the following email last week:
I visited the Creation Museum for the 3rd time a couple of weeks ago. This trip was truly special. I flew with my 5 year old granddaughter . . . . We had donated to the museum in her honor when she was just a baby. It was a true joy to her to find her name on the wall. Also, I had prayed that not only would we have a great time but that [she] would profit spiritually.  I feel God blessed me with both.  A couple of days ago she said, “Grammy, did you know Jesus stepped into history and became our ark of salvation?”

She has grown up on Buddy Davis [AiG musician] songs, and after seeing so many animatronic figures at the museum, she wanted to know if Buddy Davis was “really real”.

I thank you all for your stand on the authority of the Scripture and its reliability from Genesis verse 1. I know your resources, lectures, etc have made a difference in my life, but oh what a joy to see my granddaughter learn correct Biblical perspective from birth.

Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,
