White House Not Neutral

by Ken Ham on April 17, 2009

According to a Fox News report:

Georgetown University hid a religious inscription representing the name of Jesus during President Obama’s address there Tuesday, FOXNews.com has confirmed, because White House staff asked the school to cover up all religious symbols and signs while the president was on stage.

The monogram IHS, whose letters spell out the name of Jesus, and which normally perches above the stage in Gaston Hall where the president spoke, was covered over with what appeared to be black wood during the address.

“In coordinating the logistical arrangements for the event, Georgetown honored the White House staff’s request to cover all of the Georgetown University signage and symbols behind the Gaston Hall stage,” university spokesman Andy Pino told FOXNews.com.

As we have said many times in our articles, there is no such thing as neutrality. The Bible clearly states that one is either for or against Christ; one scatters or gathers; one walks in light or darkness. I’m sure the White House would claim so-called “separation of church and state” or some such thing. However, the bottom line is that it is all in accord with the article from Newsweek I included in my blog recently concerning the end of Christian America.

This nation is in big trouble—big trouble spiritually. More and more we see Christianity being thrown out of the culture—which does not leave the culture neutral. When the Bible, prayer, and creation were by and large thrown out of the public schools, this did not leave the schools in a neutral position (as secularists would claim, using the banner of “separation of church and state”). The biology textbooks in the public schools for instance explain to students the origin of the universe and of all life (including humans) by natural processes—this is the religion of atheism or naturalism.

What is happening in America is that Christianity is being thrown out—the Bible as the foundation this nation was basically founded upon has been eroded and replaced with the foundation of autonomous human reasoning. America is quickly becoming a secular nation. Actually, much of the church really is to blame because so many church leaders have compromised God’s Word with secular ideas, thus eroding the very foundation of the Christian faith they purport to believe in.

Regardless of what the White House may claim, to insist on covering up Christian symbols does not make the set for Obama’s speech “neutral,” but it does make a negative statement concerning the name of Jesus—a person is either for Christ or against Him!

Devotion

Way back

(Genesis 35:1–2) And God said unto Jacob, Arise, go up to Bethel, and dwell there: and make there an altar unto God, that appeared unto thee when thou fleddest from the face of Esau thy brother. Then Jacob said unto his household, and to all that were with him, Put away the strange gods that are among you, and be clean, and change your garments.

Having back slidden and drifted away from the Lord Jesus Christ, the way back is to separate from sin and return to the old ways of worship and devotion.

Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,
