The breath of life

by Ken Ham on December 1, 2005

While I was returning from a brief vacation in the mountains of Tennessee, the AiG staff was treated to a fascinating talk by one of our excellent speakers, Dr. David Menton. He spoke at a "brown bag" meeting at noontime in one of our classrooms, where the "standing-room only" crowd heard him speak on two passages of Scripture: Genesis 2:7 (the "breath of life" ) and Leviticus 17:11 ("the life of the flesh is in the blood"). He then showed how the human body (the circulatory system, in particular) demonstrates God's handiwork. I've attached a photograph of Dr. Menton as he was giving his lecture today.

Dr. Menton has a doctorate in cell biology from Brown University (an Ivy League school in Rhode Island) and taught anatomy for many years at the Washington University School of Medicine (in St. Louis), so his qualifications to give talks on the human body are impeccable. He is also a superb communicator with a great sense of humor. In fact, why not consider one or both of these things: get Dr. Menton to speak at your church or school (you can request that here …) or obtain one of his fascinating, well-illustrated DVDs (search for "Menton") as a gift for a family member or friend who is not saved.

Don't miss this great Bible-honoring speaker if he's ever in your area---go to our speakers’ calendar for a listing of 2006 meetings (we will probably hold teaching meetings in 500 cities next year, so there should be a meeting held somewhere near you in 2006).

CONTRASTS

I've attached two photographs I took today---and what a contrast between the two. The first one is of sunrise over the Smoky Mountains as we left Tennessee to return home today. The second one shows what the weather was like when we arrived home---beautiful big snowflakes covering the ground in white!

Thanks for stopping by---and keep praying,

Ken
