Comb jellies, as their name suggests, are marine animals that look like blobs of jelly, reminiscent of a stingless jellyfish (but comb jellies move via small hairs called cilia). In the evolutionary worldview, they’re in competition to be the earliest split from the supposed common ancestor of all animals (including humans!)—but a new study suggests comb jellies are more complex than previously thought.
In the evolutionary worldview, life supposedly began very simply, evolving complexity over many tens of millions of years (comb jellies are commonly believed to be 550 million years old). But this “simple-to-complex” idea imagined by Darwin isn’t supported by the evidence—scientists keep discovering that even so-called “simple” creatures are much more complex than previously thought.
For example, advanced 3D reconstructions of the aboral organ (an organ that senses gravity, pressure, and light) in comb jellies
reveal far greater structural and functional complexity than scientists previously recognized. The results suggest that a simple brain like system may have existed in some of the earliest animals, offering new insight into how nervous systems evolved.
Just how complicated is this organ?
The analysis revealed 17 different cell types within the aboral organ, including 11 secretory and ciliated cell types that had never been identified before. This wide variety of cells confirms that the AO [aboral organ] functions as a sophisticated multimodal sensory organ.
Eleven new cell types never before identified!
And it’s not just complicated. As one study author put it, “I was amazed almost immediately by the morphological diversity of the aboral organ cells. . . . The AO has a striking complexity when compared to apical organs of cnidarian and bilaterian. It is so unique!” (emphasis added)
Of course, whenever something is unique, evolutionists wonder where it came from and are generally forced to the same conclusion as these study authors, “This difference suggests that the aboral organ may not be directly equivalent to brains found in other animal groups. ‘In other words . . . evolution seems to have invented centralized nervous systems more than once.’”
Apparently blind, random chance is so good at “inventing” things that it created the centralized nervous system multiple times! This is absurd. The list of features that supposedly evolved not only once or twice but many times is just getting longer. Here are just a few other examples of incredibly complex features that evolution allegedly “just happened” to perfect over and over:
Life didn’t evolve—that would be impossible. Evolution is nothing but a fairy tale.
And the list goes on. Consider the odds of something as complex (and the more we study, the more complex we realize things are) as a centralized nervous system made of 17 cell types, flight, eyesight, or echolocation evolving just once . . . let alone over and over again! It absolutely strains credulity.
Life didn’t evolve—that would be impossible. Evolution is nothing but a fairy tale.
The true origin of comb jellies and everything else is found in Genesis 1!
