Worldwide Leading Cause of Death in 2019: Abortion

Well, did you know that the major physical cause of death is completely preventable? The lives of 42.4 million people were lost last year because of abortion. Over 42 million unborn children murdered worldwide. Let that sink in for a moment.

That should break the heart of every Christian. As news outlet Disrn reports,

The 42.4 million deaths from abortion in 2019 was more than twice the number of all worldwide deaths caused by cancer, smoking, alcohol, traffic accidents, malaria, and HIV/AIDS combined.

That’s 116,164 lives lost every single day. That’s 4,840 lives lost every hour. That’s 81 lives lost every minute. That’s more than one per second! We need, more than ever, to boldly stand for life. This is a matter of life and death—the lives of babies!

That’s why we're building a brand-new sanctity of life exhibit at the Creation Museum, to open this summer. We are praising the Lord that, before the end of 2019, we raised all the funds we needed to fully fund this powerful new exhibit that will be constructed in two phases. What a blessing! Thank you to everyone who so generously gave and stood with us in standing for life.

This new pro-life exhibit will feature beautiful 3D models of babies growing in the womb. The fascinating facts about development that will accompany these models will clearly point up that we are indeed “fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14). Guests will see from both science and the Bible that life begins at the moment of fertilization. Therefore, abortion is the taking of human lives. The gospel, with a message of hope for all—including for those who have had an abortion—will be highlighted as we point our guests towards the One who promises “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).

Of course, our sin in Adam is the cause of all death—so it's really the leading cause of death in 2019, and every year since the fall. It's the reason for abortion because "the heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?" (Jeremiah 17:9). The solution is the gospel of Jesus Christ!
