James Watson, the co-discoverer of the double-helix shape of DNA, was recently stripped of his honorary titles by the laboratory where he did most of his research. Why would his lab strip a scientist, who made such an incredible discovery, of his titles? Because of his racist views.
In 2007, during an interview, Watson claimed he was “‘gloomy about the prospect of Africa’ because he believed African intelligence was genetically lower than that of Europeans.” Needless to say, people got upset about his blatantly racist (and unscientific) statements. And in a new documentary, the scientist doubled-down on his views, stating they haven’t changed since that 2007 interview. This caused his lab to strip him of his titles.
But if this lab wants to be consistent, they also need to ban Charles Darwin's books, as his book, The Descent of Man, is blatantly racist. Most people have never read Darwin’s Origin of the Species let alone The Descent of Man (published 12 years after the Origin) and probably don't want to as they would then have to admit Darwin's shocking evolutionary racism!
Evolution is an inherently racist philosophy.
Evolution is an inherently racist philosophy. It (and certain evolutionists who are consistent with its principles, such as James Watson) stands in sharp contrast to the biblical worldview. There’s no room in a biblical worldview for any kinds of racist attitudes. Starting with the Bible’s history, we know we’re all descended from the first two people (Adam and Eve) and therefore have a sinful nature, inherited from Adam. Because we’ve all descended from Adam, we all have the same problem—sin!
And we all have the same solution: the Lord Jesus, the God-man who stepped into history as a descendant of Adam to take our sin on himself when he died on the cross. He then rose from the grave, defeating death and sin, and offers the free gift of salvation to those from every nation, tribe, people, and language who will repent and trust in him.
The biblical implication that we’re all one race is supported by science. Genetic studies have confirmed what the Bible taught all along—there’s only one race, the human race. We have powerful displays at both the Creation Museum and Ark Encounter that share this truth.
If people truly had a Christian worldview built on the true history revealed to us by God beginning in Genesis, they would understand that all humans are equal before God, as we’re all one race.
Get more answers to the issue of race in my chapter from The New Answers Book 1: “Are There Really Different Races?” Also be sure to check out my books, One Race, One Blood and One Race for Kids for more information on this topic.
We’re dealing with the race issue in two powerful ways throughout 2019—with our Answers for Pastors and Christian Leaders conference on October 8–10, 2019, and our Answers Vacation Bible School (VBS), The Incredible Race: One Family, One Race, One Savior.
Answers for Pastors and Christian Leaders will give biblical and scientific answers to equip any believer to defend the Bible’s teaching that we’re one race, and that the hope for all mankind is the gospel. It’s sure to be an equipping and encouraging conference as we tackle this vital issue and help bring unity within the body of Christ. Our pastors and Christian leaders conference sold out last year, so be sure to register today to reserve your place and enjoy a special early-bird discount. You can learn more and register today on the outreach page of our website.
Our 2019 VBS, The Incredible Race, sees kids racing across the world as they solve challenges and discover that we’re all one race and one family, with one Savior, Jesus Christ. It’s a fun, gospel-oriented way of teaching children about the race issue and pointing them to the one hope for all mankind, Jesus.
