And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men. (Colossians 3:23)
My father went to be with the Lord just over 17 years ago. These many years later, I still remember the principles he taught me from God’s Word and also those he set by example.
My father was the principal of primary schools in Australia (i.e., elementary/middle schools). Even though he worked in a secular environment (there were no Christian schools in Australia in those days), my father was well known to students and parents as a Christian. And in whatever he did, he excelled. School inspectors always gave him top marks.
As my father ran his schools with excellence, he was determined never to knowingly, in any way, compromise his stand on God’s Word.
I remember the time I talked to my father about how he ran his schools and about many of the special events he organized (sports activities, fairs, etc.). He told me that “whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord.”
I’ll also never forget both my father and mother teaching me (based on God’s Word) about how we should look at ourselves and others: God first, others second, yourself last. In my mind I can still hear both of them saying that.
I praise the Lord that God has brought hundreds of likeminded, Bible-believing staff members to Answers in Genesis. That’s one major reason AiG and the Creation Museum have been able to impact so many lives, as God has blessed. You see, many museum guests have told me about our wonderful staff members. Our visitors are made to feel special and truly welcome here.
For Christians who visit, our staff wants to help them be better equipped to defend our Christian faith in these increasingly secular times. For the non-Christians, we want them to be introduced to the truth of God’s Word and its gospel message.
We recognize that it’s all the Lord’s ministry. In whatever they do, the AiG staff members seek to give the very best of their abilities and talents. Why should God have our second best?
Many journalists from the secular media have commented on the high quality of the museum exhibits and the special programs we hold. They often note the hospitality of our professional staff. It actually causes non-Christians to take the ministry and our message more seriously.
But the accolades are not just for the Creation Museum. The overall ministry of AiG has won many awards from both the secular and Christian worlds for excellence in advertising, web design, videos, magazine publication, etc.
For instance, did you know that our AnswersinGenesis.org website received the prestigious “Website of the Year” award from the National Religious Broadcasters for the second time? Over 1,200 ministries make up the NRB.
Recently, our Answers magazine picked up eight major awards from the Evangelical Press Association. In the most-esteemed category, Answers received EPA’s top award for general excellence—two years in a row! Over 300 publications make up the EPA.
As the quality of AiG’s outreaches continues to be recognized, the Lord is being honored.
Most of our very talented AiG staff no doubt could receive much higher salaries in the secular world. Yet they choose to work at this apologetics ministry to share the gospel.
The following verse applies to our excellent staff and how they view AiG’s reputation:
A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, loving favor rather than silver and gold. (Proverbs 22:1)
I praise the Lord for our 300 staff, for whom we can say that whatever they do, they “do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men.”
Lastly, an independent survey of our staff ranked AiG’s workplace as one of the top places to work for a medium-size organization in our Greater Cincinnati area. Last year AiG was ranked very high at #8; we await the exact 2012 ranking as we go to press.
On page one, you can see the ad that was placed in the Cincinnati Enquirer to recognize the exceptional staff God has brought to AiG!
Answers in Genesis is an apologetics ministry, dedicated to helping Christians defend their faith and proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ.
