Transcript

In the nineteenth century, some Christian leaders suggested Genesis chapter one has a gap between verses one and two. Why?

Well, it was an attempt to fit long ages into the Bible. Since these leaders had accepted this new idea, they believed they had to fit long timespans into the Bible somehow!

So the idea didn’t come from the Bible itself. It was from outside the Bible. Sadly, God’s clear Word was reinterpreted because of man’s ideas.

Christians still do this today, whether it’s the gap theory … or the idea Genesis is just poetry. Or claiming the days in Genesis were millions of years.

These are attempts to fit man’s ideas into God’s Word. God’s the authority.
