All this week, we’ve been looking at perversions of the gospel in our culture. Now, these false gospels offer a temporary hope that things will get better here on earth. But they don’t offer any hope for eternity.
You see, they let the temporary—things like health, wealth, and social justice—eclipse eternity.
Now, today is Good Friday, a day when Christians specifically remember the death of Christ.
And Sunday we’ll celebrate Christ’s resurrection from the dead. It’s these two events that give us eternal hope. Christ took our penalty of death for us when he died. And he defeated death when he rose from the grave to give us eternal life in him!
