There’s a growing trend among young people known as “birth strikers.” Now these people aren’t having children, they say, to save the environment. They point to climate change, pollution, and supposed upcoming food shortages as reasons to avoid having kids.

Should Christians join the “birth strikers?” Well, in Genesis, God told us to be “fruitful and multiply,” and he gave that command again after the flood. And he also promised that summer and winter—and seedtime and harvest—wouldn’t cease.

Yes, we need to care for our environment. God has made us stewards of his creation. But we need to do so properly, understanding God’s love for people and his command to multiply.
