Transcript

In Genesis one, mankind is given dominion over the earth. But what does that mean?

Well, some people believe it means we can do whatever we want to the earth—that creation doesn’t matter because it’s all about us.

Now, humans are the crown of God’s creation. We alone are made in God’s image, so we have a unique value that no animal or plant has. So we don’t view human life as a blight on the earth … or as less important.

But that doesn’t mean God doesn’t care about everything else he made. Scripture is filled with references to God’s care for creation.

So, having dominion means that we should use creation for our good … and to God’s glory. Which means we care of it.
