We live in a “Greek-ized” culture. Let me explain.
In the book of Acts, Peter preached to his fellow Jews a message starting with Christ as Messiah. The apostle Paul preached a sermon to a gathering of Greeks, starting with God as Creator. Two different messages pointing to the same person—Jesus. Why the need for different approaches?
Well, Peter was preaching to Jews who knew the Old Testament and the promised Messiah. Paul was preaching to pagans who knew nothing of God.
And that’s the culture we have today, even in the church sadly. While past generations were “Jews” in the sense that they had a biblical foundation, today they’re Greeks.
