Some “old-earth” creationists argue that day seven of creation week is an on-going day. That’s because, they say, the phrase “evening and morning” isn’t used at the end of the seventh day.

But this final day was a day of rest, not a day of activity. That’s why we don’t find phrases such as “and God said” … or “let there be” used in this final day either.

And the book of Exodus mentions that God created everything in six days and rested one day; that’s why we have a seven-day week.

The seventh day isn’t an ongoing day of rest that somehow means the other days weren’t literal days. No, God created in six literal days and rested for one.
