In the book of Colossians, Paul warns us to beware of being taken captive by philosophy and empty deceit. How can we know what is mere philosophy and deceit?
Well, Paul says that such things are according to human traditions and the things of this world—not according to Christ!
How do we know what’s according to Christ? Well, by looking to his Word! The only way we know anything authoritative about Christ is from his Word. It tells us everything we need for life and godliness.
Does a teacher point you back the Bible and to Christ? Or do they distract from Christ by focusing on things outside God’s Word?
A teacher’s focus should be on Christ!
